Geology site description:

In Þingvellir is a gorge that is right on the fault line between the American and European plate. Iceland sits right on the Mid Atlantic Ridge, where the plates pull apartÞingvellir is also the site where in the year 930 the first parliament in the world was founded. In the vicinity are other geological sites such as craters and Geysir.
