South of the village of Wassigny there are several small, now abandoned quarries, in which Late Jurassic (Malm) deposits were exposed. These quarries were a good spot for echinoid spines, crinoid stems and red algae (Solenopora).
Nowadays, these quarries are flooded and no longer accesible.

The quarries are situated about 1 km after the sign that markes the border of Wassigny on the D27 towards Chamount-Porcien. Just over the train tracks, the now flooded quarries can be seen on the right hand side of the road, behind a row of houses (approximately at Rue de Wassingy nr. 11 in Vénérolles).
