Location description

Just south of Eldorado, Fayelle County, Iowa, there are several road cut outrops of Paleozoic rocks. These include the Clermont Shale Member and the Fort Atkinson Member limestone of the Upper Ordovician Maquokta Formation. Further to the south and up th hill is a road cut at Goedken Park exposing Silurian and Devonian strata.  All these strata have typical invertebrate marine fossils.
