In the Wallace Stone quarry near Bay Port, the Bayport limestone from the Mississippian, Carboniferous period is exposed. The quarry is large but shallow. Local geological societies regularly organize excursions to this quarry.

Bay Port is located in the east of the state of Michigan, north of Detroit. The quarry is located southeast of the town at Ribble Road.
