Most Popular Fossil Locations
Gorges du Verdon, France
Spectacular white cliffs are located at the east coast of the Danish island of Møn (Møns Klint). At the beach and in the cliffs you can find sea urchins and bivalves from the Cretaceous period. Fossils can also be found in the flint. At the nearby beaches you can also find sea urchins. The cliffs of Møn mostly date from the Lower Maastrichtian.
In the spring of 2007 massive rockfalls took place. Some of the footpaths to the beach were closed.
At the campingsite near the cliff you can show your fossils to an amateur geologist (every evening, in the summer only).
