Cuevas del Almanzora
In the Almeria province near Cuevas del Almanzora there is a 25 metre high exposed cliff adjacent to the road. Comprising of banks of fossils up to 8 metres thick from the late Pliocene (part of the Neogene period).
Although not of fossil interest the site is on the edge of the sedimentary basin which has numerous sand beds, now being quarried, laid down at the same time as the fossil beds. There is a distinct 28 degree tilt to the southwest. All in all a fascinating area.
