Location description

This old quarry was used between 1957 and 1975 to extract limestone to make cement. Now the quarry is partly inundated and is used for fishing. In the quarry limestones from the Danian (part of the Paleogene period) is exposed. The quarry is now a nature reserve, but collecting fossils is still possible and allowed.

The quarry is located south of Copenhagen, close to the motorway. Take exit 30 Køge bucht. The quarry is located closeby west of the exit. Park at the Silovej road (left of the main road). There is free access to the quarry and information leaflets are available.
