The annelids or so called “ringed worms” form a phylum within the kingdom Animalia. Some examples of recent annelids are earthworms and bristle worms or Polychaeta. Member of the latter group are the Serpulidae, sometimes called tube worms. Tube worms are named after the calcium carbonate tubes they secrete, which are frequently found as fossils.
