Syncline
A syncline is a U-shaped fold in rocks. The rock is folded downwards. The opposite of a syncline is an anticline. Usually anticlines and synclines alternate, unless the geological structure is disrupted by fractures or thrusting. If the rock layers are not overturned, the rocks in the inner part of the syncline is younger than the exterior.
