Location description:

The Huanzala mine in Peru has for years been a major source of Pyrite which was commercially sold worldwide. In mine lead and zinc ore was mined. Pyrite was a byproduct that was sold by local workers.

The latest reports are that no pyrite is mined anymore at this mine.

Huanzala is located in the province Dos de Mayo in central Peru, approximately 250 kilometers north of Lima.
