Geology site description:
In Hoegaarden fossil tree trunks have been uncovered during the construction of the high speed line that was built in 1999-2001. The fossil wood comes from the swamp cypres Glyptostroboxylon sp. and comes from the Eocene period.
A small portion of the finds have been preserved in the geosite Goudberg. In the summer months, the site can be visitted on the weekends. See the Website for more information.
