Geology site description:

Near Fumanya many dinosaur tracks can be seen in an old coal mineThe tracks are from the Maastrichtian, part of the Upper Cretaceous period. On the inclined surface layer of 50,000 square meters, more than 3,000 footsteps of the main herbivore Titanosaurus are present. The tracks were formed on the bottom of a calcareous lake in the Cretaceous period.

The quarry is part of the Cadi Moixeró National Park and has been nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage List. However, there are major problems with the preservation of the tracks. For now, the construction of a visitor stopped and the site is not being promoted.
