Geology site description:

The area around Aliaga is part of the Geoparc Parque Geológico Aliaga. In the park it is not allowed to collect and take fossils. The exposed layers near Aliage are very fosiliferous. Brachiopods, gastropods, sea urchins, corals and plant remains are abundant. In the park you can see dinosaur tracks. The sediments exposed in the area are mainly from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. In the past lignite was mined in the area.
