Location description

Giant Cement is a quarry near Harleyville, Dorchester County, South Carolina, that supplies materials for the construction of highways and buildings. In this quarry, fossil-rich Eocene deposits are outcropping.

From I95 North,merge onto I26 E toward Charleston (exit 86A) for about 8 1/2 miles. Then take exit 177 toward Harleyville, then a left ontoi Judge St. (SC453) to the quarry. Coordinates 33 degrees 14' 28" N and 80 degrees 26' 26" W.

The deposits in the quarry are rich in shark teeth, ray teeth, shells, and echinoids.
