Location description

Le Guepelle is an old quary that is historically known as an outcrop of the highly fossiliferous Eocene deposits of the Paris Basin

In the quarry the Formation of Guepelle is outcropping. This formation dates from the Auverisen (lower Bartonian). Especially the thick shell hash known as the “agrégat coquillier” is very rich in fossils

The quary is situated near the small town of Saint-Witz, in the Val d'Oise.
