North of Lusk you can search for fossils from the Lance Formation of the Maastrichtian, Upper Cretaceous period. The so-called Lance Fossil Area covers a large area. On the private parts can be searched for fossils of vertebrates, but only with the consent of the owner (sometimes for a fee)!
In the private ranch Paleo Park you can search for fossils for a fee. Unfortunately, you can not keep everything you find. See thePaleo Park website for more information.

Lusk is located in the northeast of the state of Wyoming. The Lance Fossil Area is located approximately 80 kilometers north of Lusk.
