In Clarkia a small outcrop with fossils occurs in sediments from the Miocene, part of the Neogene period. The Clarkia deposits (also known as Fossil Bowl) were formed in a lake in a much warmer climate than today.

Clarkia is located in the north of the state of Idaho, about 50 kilometers south of Kingston. The location is about 3 kilometers south of Clarkia right next to a motocross track.Drag the map and zoom in or out for the best view of this locality.
Various plant fossils (leaves of deciduous trees, fish and even flowers). More than 100 species of plants are known from this location.
