Location description

In the Ben Guérir open-cast mines phosphate is mined on a large scale. The deposits are from the Maastrichtian, part of the Cretaceous period and contain various kinds of fossils. The deposits belong to the same sedimentary basin as the phosphate deposits in Khouribga.
