Location description

Near Béchar limestone from the Cretaceous period is exposed in the mountains. Below the limestone the famous Kem Kem deposits are exposed. This continental (land) deposit contains various kinds of fossils from the Albian. It is the area west of Bechar where the Kem Kem deposits are locally accessible. Exact locations are unfortunately not known to us.

The border with Morocco is also almost the end of the plateau with Cretaceous deposits but also on the Algerian side the fossil deposits are exposed. See also the location Kem Kem Morocco.
