In the desert of Jordan phosphate is mined on a large scale (300 square kilometers) by surface mining for the fertilizer industry. The phosphate deposits are from the Santonian to Maastrichtian, Upper Cretaceous period, and contain various kinds of fossils. The fossils are dark brown in a light matrix. Opportunities for permission to collect fossils here are unknown.

Al Hasa is located in central Jordan in the desert between Maan and Amman. The mine is located about 8 kilometers east of Al Hasa.Drag the map and zoom in or out for the best view of this locality.
Various types of shark teeth (eg Squalicorax, Serratolamna, Cretolamna), mosasaur teeth (including Mosasaurus and Globidens), Plesiosaurus.
