Location description

Along the Gironde estuary there are several cliffs. At the falaises near Talmont you can find fossils from the upper Cretaceous period.

These cliffs are the type locality of the Campanian.

Also on the fields in the region Campanian echinoids can be found, amongst others near Brie-sous-Archiac.

The Gironde estuary is located northwest of Bordeaux. Southwest of Royan is the village of Talmont. At the shore near Talmont, Merschers and Le Caillaud you can find fossils.
