Location description

At various exposures at the south Wales coastline, sediments from the Triassic and Jurassic periods are exposed. The Jurassic deposits are fossiliferous.

The sites are located at the south cost of South Wales.

At Llantwit Major deposits from the lower Jurassic period are exposed. Collect east of the beach access.

At Penarth you can collect fossils from the Jurassic period at the foreshore between the pier and the Cardiff dam.

At Lavernock you can collect in deposits from the Jurassic period. From the beach access to the east are Trissic deposits which contain virtually no fossils. The Jurassic deposits are exposed to the west.
