Near Thurso sediments from the Mey subgroup, Givetian, middle Devonian period are exposed. These sediments are known for its fossil fish remains. Complete fishes occur in concretions from the upper layers.

Thurso is located at the Scottish north coast. From Thuso East, at the other side of the river, go along the castle to the coast. Walk on the beach to the northeast. The sediments are exposed until Castletown.
By walking to the northwest from Thurso, you will find the Latheron sediments exposed.Drag the map and zoom in or out for the best view of this locality.
