Location description

Near Blackwater coal is extracted in open pits and underground mining. The deposits of the Rangal Coal Measure are from the upper Permian period.

Blackwater is located in the west of the state of Queensland, northeast Australia. The coal sediments are concentrated on a north-south line, north and south of the town of Blackwater.
