Location description

In an old quarry near a reservoir dam near Jacksboro the Finis shale and Jacksboro limestone from the Pennsylvanian, Carboniferous period are exposed. Here you can find nice fossils.

Jacksboro is located in the north of the state of Texas, northwest of Fort Worth. The quarry is located about 3 kilometers northeast of Jacksboro. At the entrance of the park you have to pay a fee. Park near the dam, and walk to the other side towards the quarry.
