Location description

In the Inversand quarry in Sewell sands and clay from the Cretaceous and Paleogene period are exposed. The C/T boundary is exposed in the quarry. In the quarry you the Navesink and Hornerstown greensand formations are exposed. The bottom part of the Hornerstown formation is the most fossiliferous.

Large brachiopods, shark teeth, corals, bivalves, gastropods, amber, vertebrae and other bones of crocodiles, mosasaur and plesiosaur. The mineral vivianite can be found at this site.
