Location description

In a large quarry near Amsdorf sediments from the middle Eocene up to the Oligocene (part of the Paleogene period) are exposed. In the quarry lignite is mined. A layer of 20 meters thick from the Rupelian (Oligocene) is the most fossiliferous.
