Location description

In the Ridgemound quarry in Fort Erie the world famous sea scorpion fossils are found. These animals were top predators in the Silurian period, and could grow up to 2 meters long!

Collecting in this quarry is only possible after permission and in a group.

Fort Erie is located in the south of Ontario, Canada, close to the city of Buffalo (USA).

Sea scorpions (eurypterids). Mostly loose segments. Fossils from crinoids, brachiopods and trilobites are also found.
