Location description

This cape is the northermost part of Denmark. In the iceages the amber was transported here and deposited in the offshore sandlayers. Because of the sand transport by sea currents, amber is often washed up on the beach.

In Skagen there is a natural history museum, and they also have fossils. The address of the Skagen Odde Naturcenter is Batterivej 51, Skagen. See also the museum website.

The best time to collect amber in in autumn or in the winter after a storm.
