Directions

The sites are located in the South of Belgium near the village of Thanville.

Thanville 1: To the South of Pondrôme under the railroad viaduct of Reu de Bouillon, (N95), we find a small site as well. Here many kinds of brachiopods, bivalves and corals can be found. I also found two trilobites here (see picture).

Thanville 2: The same layer is also found at the location Thanville, more to the south. Where the road Hameau de Thanville crosses the railroad/viaduct. Take the A4 to the south first and turn right at the road 23 to Wellin. Then follow the N94 and then turn right at the crossroads onto the N40. Keep following the N40 until after Pondrôme. Turn left at the Reu de Bouillon (N95). Right after the first curve you'll encounter the first viaduct where you can search for fossils.

To reach the viaduct at Thanville you keep driving until after the second curve. You can turn right in the direction of the village of Thanville at the street "Hameau de Thanville". The viaduct is easily visible from there.

Drag the map and zoom in or out for the best view of this locality.

Finds

Mainly brachiopods (Spirifer, Atrypa etc.), corals (solitairy and small colonies), bivalves(sometimes) and sponges too (genus Receptaculites). Trilobites can be found as well, but they seem to be rare.
