Location description

Close to Lyon there is a quarry called Lafarge in the village of Belmont. Here fossil rich limestones from the Toarcian and Aalenian (part of the lower Jurassic period) are exposed.

A few times every year the quarry is open for fossil collectors (paid access). The exact dates are not known to me. You best contact the company "Lafarge Ciments C.E.".
