Location description

In the surroundings of the large quarry in Skovde you can find fossils like trilobites. The quarry does not give you permission to collect fossils. The limestones are from the Ordovician period and are similar to the sediment in Kinnekulle.

Skövde is located south east of Kinnekulle. There is a large quarry with orthoceras limestone from the Ordovician period. The quarry is located just outside Skövde in the direction of Skara. The quarry does not give you permission to collect fossils. In the surrounding area there are some outcrops where I found fossil orthoceras and trilobites. The old quarry is totally overgrown and now a nature reserve. This area is closed between the first of february and the 15th of august.
