Hoek van Holland is located north of the Nieuwe Waterweg canal, west of the city of Rotterdam. The small beaches can be found when you walk to the south along the north sea. At the canal go left along the Nieuwe Waterweg.
Be careful !!! The beaches are only accesible at low tide. When large ships pass, the beaches can be flooded too. You can be washed into the sea!Drag the map and zoom in or out for the best view of this locality.
Mammal bones, and sometimes remains of reptiles (a part of a tortoise shell has been found here). These fossils come from the Pleistocene (part of the Neogene period). Shark teeth (Isurus hastalis and sometimes white shark) are rare, but can be found. The teeth come from the Pliocene (part of the Neogene period).
