In central Portugal limestone from the Turonian (part of the Cretaceous period) are exposed. In the limestones you can find various fossils.
Nowadays (2016), this exposure is overgrown by vegetation and no longer accessible.

Montemor-o-Velho is located halfway between Lisbon and Porto in Portugal. The site is located about 15 kilometres east of Figuera da Foz. You can find fossils at the right of the road from Montemor-o-Velho to Alfarelos, before the railroad.
