Sao Martinho do Porto
Sao-Martinho do Porto: Around the bay layers from the middle Jurassic period are exposed. The layers contain a rich marine fauna. You can find bivalves (Lopha, Pholadomya, Osteomya, Isognomon,...), gastropods, brachiopods (Morrisythiris, ...), sea urchins (Balanocidaris, loose spines, ...), plant remains and trace fossils. Even dinosaur footprints have been found here. The finds are not always numerous!

The location Sao-Martinho do Porto is a one hour drive north of Lisbon. Hammer and chissel are necessary. The collecting area is shown on the map.
The alternative for a long walk arouds the bay is to drive to Salir do Porto, south of the bay. Follow the sign "Prayas" and from the parking (Information sign!) you are in the area within a few minutes.Drag the map and zoom in or out for the best view of this locality.
