Geode

A geode is a hollow space which is partially filled with crystals. Small geodes are more common than larger ones. Geodes are formed by bubbles in magma or lava that form cavities after solidification. After the solidification, dissolved minerals in the ground water can precipitate on the inside of these cavities. If this process continues, the space will be completely filled and formed agate.

The crystals in geodes usually consist of Quartz. Amethyst is also a variety of Quartz. Rutile and Calcite can also be found in geodes. Geodes are traded worldwide.
