A lobolith or lobolite is a crinoid’s floating device (organ). Some crinoids had a gas filled organ, called lobolite or floater, attached to the end of their stem. Because these crinoids could float they had a mobile lifestyle. An example of a lobolite bearing crinoid is Scyphocrinites.
