The Serpulidae or Serpulids are a group of annelid worms (phylum Annelida). Serpulids occur from the Silurian age, and were general from the Jurassic period onwards. The fossils found are "worm tubes" of calcium carbonate. These occur both straight and coiled. The serpulids on the outside are irregular, but on the inside perfectly round. This in contast to the gastropods. Serpuliden often attach themselves to a solid substrate, often shells of other organisms.
