Ostracoda
The order of the Ostracods is classed in the class Crustacea (Crustaceans) and the Phylum Arthropoda (Arthropods). Ostracods live in both fresh and salt water, and they live on the bottom. The "shell" of the lobster-like creature fossilises fairly easy and consists of two halves. They are usually only a few millimeters in size, but some species can grow up to a few centimeters.
Example of an ostracod from Gotland, Sweden.
