Igneous rock: Lava rock Iceland
Metamorphosis is the geologic process that forms metamorphic rocks under the influence of high temperature and high pressure. Due to the high pressure and temperature, certain minerals are no longer stable. Chemical reactions create new minerals. The rock itself is changing too, and a metamorphic rock is formed.
Metamorphosis usually occurs deep inside the Earth's crust, but can also occur near faults and shear zones, where high pressure is built up.
