Copal is resin from specific types of tropical trees. It is often confused with amber, fossilised resin. Copal however, is less old. The age of Copal lies between a few hundred to thousands of years. Copal can be recognized because it is still a little tacky, unlike amber which is completely fossilized. Most Copal comes from Madagacar.
