Bone bed
Bone bed is a layer of sediment very rich in bones and fragments of bones. Geologically speaking the occurrence of these beds is very exceptional.
When a bone bed is found in small area it could have been formed due to a catastrophe or event which wiped out a lot of “life”. This small extinction could lead to a lot of bones piling up together
Piling up of bones could also occur very locally, e.g. at the bottom of a cave.
