Comments:
Pseudo craters near Mývatn in the north of Iceland. These were formed when hot lava flowed across marshy ground. Because steam exploded under the lava, the so-called "Pseudo Craters" were formed.

Near Myvatn in the north of Iceland is this fumarole field. Here volcanic gases are escaping from the surface. Bubbling mud pools are formed by dissolved minerals due to acids in the groundwater.

Comments:
By uplifting of the surface this fissure in the rock, which was formed in the 18th century near Laki (road 206) where a large fissure eruption occured. As a result of this eruption, many cubic kilometers of volcanic ash and lava were erupted. Crops were dying en masse, and many people died of starvation.
