Taxonomy [explanation]
Superregnum: Eukaryota Woese et al. 1990
Regnum: Animalia Linnaeus, 1758
Subregnum: Eumetazoa Butchili, 1910
Superphylum: Deuterostomia Grobben, 1908
Phylum: Echinodermata Klein, 1754
Subphylum: Eleutherozoa Bell, 1891
Superclassis: Cryptosyringida Smith, 1984
Classis: Echinoidea Leske, 1778
Species: Diplodetus bucardium (Goldfuss, 1829)

Comments:
Fossil in a chunk of flint, and of course the imprint was kept. Because that is the only possibility to identify the species. With the new Staringia publication by NGV, that succeeds well. Make a print of the negative, and the identification can begin. Found in a gravel pit at Wemb, close to the Dutch-German border in Well.

Location
Found in: Wemb, Germany >>See Species List

Comments:
These sea urchins have a thin shell. It is therefore difficult to find a more or less complete specimen. They are usually deformed.
