Species: Carpospongia pogrebovi Asatkin, 1949

Comments:
Ulrich von Hacht, observed this sponge in 1994 and named it after Martin Lange, a collector of fossil sponges from erratics on Sylt: Carpospongia langei. However, in 1949 Asatkin had described the same sponge in the former Soviet Union from the bedrock of Estonia. At the time, the Russian language and the Iron Curtain, stood in the way of exchanging the knowledge, even for fossil sponges.
